Defendant KENDRELL NAJEE BUTLER [DOB REDACTED] is required to register as a predatory offender as a result of a conviction in Hennepin County Court File ••-CR-••-••••. On June 18, 2025, Defendant has signed a registration form indicating that he was homeless and staying in St. Paul. On June 24, 2025, police officers executed a search warrant on a residence in Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota. Defendant was the target of the search warrant and police had reason to believe he had been residing at the Burnsville residence.
Defendant was located at the residence and a subsequent search of the residence confirmed that Defendant appeared to be living there. Before leaving the residence, an officer advised Defendant that he needed to update his predatory offender registration to reflect his current residence. Police seized a phone belonging to Defendant as part of the search warrant and later executed a separate warrant to search the phone. Location data from the phone showed that it was often at the Burnsville address and the address came up often in email travel confirmations as well as messages.
On October 14, 2025, an adult female (identified herein as “Witness”) contacted police to report that she was assaulted by her boyfriend, whom she identified as Defendant. Witness stated that she had been living with Defendant at the Burnsville address for months, at least since July. She also believed Defendant had lived at the Burnsville address for a long time before she moved in. On October 7, 2025, Defendant again signed a registration form indicating that he was homeless and staying in St. Paul.
