On May 13, 2025, law enforcement responded to a hotel in Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota, following a 911 call from a woman, Victim herein, requesting help. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was scared and needed help getting out of the hotel room. Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the bathroom and dispatch heard a male voice in the background yelling and banging on the door. Upon arrival, law enforcement spoke to Victim [NAME REDACTED], crying, and visibly scared. Victim [NAME REDACTED] from one homeless shelter to another when a male, later identified as SHARMARKE ADEN MOHAMOUD [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, drove his car up to her and offered to give her a ride.
Defendant told Victim shelters are dangerous and offered to get her a hotel room for the night. Defendant then took Victim to a bar where he continually poured her shots of tequila and told her she “needed to be drunk.” Victim felt intoxicated when she left the bar. Once they arrived at the hotel, Victim [NAME REDACTED] on the bed fully clothed. Victim recalls Defendant aggressively touching her breasts and pushing his hands away. When Victim [NAME REDACTED], she was nude, experiencing pain, and Defendant was in the same bed as her wearing only his boxers.
Victim did not recall falling asleep but did recall waking up at one point to Defendant sexually assaulting her. Victim reported Defendant penetrated her vagina with his penis. Defendant admitted picking Victim up, bringing her to the hotel, and sleeping in the same bed. Defendant denied having any sexual encounter with Victim. Victim completed a Sexual Assault Nurse Examination (SANE exam), and swabs were collected from her vagina. The swabs were sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) for testing.
BCA results showed the presence of semen on the vaginal swabs. The major male profile from the vaginal swab matched the known DNA profile of the Defendant. Given the nature of the allegations, the State requests a complaint warrant so conditions of release can be set to ensure Victim [NAME REDACTED].
