On April 18, 2026, officers with the Burnsville Police Department were dispatched to a disturbance at an apartment building located on 121st Street in the City of Burnsville, which is within Dakota County. On the scene the officers could hear yelling from inside the residence. Officers knocked on the door and announced their presence and after some time an adult woman, K. C. B., hereinafter “Victim,” exited the residence to speak with officers. Officers observed blood in Victim’s mouth as well as on her neck, clothes and legs.
Victim informed officers that she and her boyfriend Damon Marvin Henning, Jr., [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant,” had both been at her apartment when they got into an argument over their relationship. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had taken Defendant’s phone as she believed he was being unfaithful and had locked herself in the bathroom. When Defendant discovered this, he broke the bathroom door down and began to hit Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] did not know how many times Defendant hit her.
Officers observed that the bathroom door in Victim’s apartment was broken in half. Defendant further reported that she and Defendant live together, but that he does not have a key to the apartment and only stays there for a few days at a time. Victim also reported that she and Defendant have a child [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant was observed to have multiple injuries, all caused by Defendant, including: 1). A cut to her lower lip; 2). Swelling to her upper lip; 3). A large laceration to her left thigh; 4). A laceration on her left inner calf; and 5). A cut to her right knee.
Defendant was located on scene by officers the next day and taken into custody. Defendant was previously convicted of 2nd Degree Assault in Court File No. 70-CR-20-15276 and Emergency Telephone Calls/Communications – Interrupt, Interfere, Impede, Disrupt 911 in Court File No. 27-CR-21-8917.
