On July 4, 2025, an officer of the Rosemount Police Department observed a vehicle travelling in the City of Rosemount, Dakota County, Minnesota. The vehicle passed the officer and the officer observed the driver of the vehicle. The officer ran the license plate on the vehicle and determined that the driver, based upon the vehicle registration and the driver’s license photo of associated drivers, was Wesley Eugene Brooks, born on [DOB REDACTED]. The officer also noted that Mr. Brooks was marked with a driving status of Cancelled – inimical to public safety.
The officer activated the lights on his patrol vehicle and two vehicles began to pull over to the shoulder. The officer pulled directly behind the vehicle associated with Mr. Books and the vehicle then accelerated at a high rate of speed. The officer noted that the vehicle as it drove away nearly hit another vehicle on the road. The officer attempted to pursue the vehicle but discontinued the pursuit due to public safety.
