In February 2026, officers with the Apple Valley Police Department were notified of multiple thefts that had occurred at two retailers (Retailer 1 and Retailer 2) on Florence Trail in the City of Apple Valley, County of Dakota, Minnesota, over a four-month period. Officers reviewed loss prevention reports and security camera footage and positively identified Demetrius Antonio Colvin, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, committing the following acts: On October 20, 2025, Defendant entered Retailer 1 with an unknown accomplice.
He aided in committing theft, taking three pairs of Ugg footwear valued at $369.91. Defendant concealed $169.97 on his person and exited the store without payment. On November 1, 2025, Defendant entered Retailer 1 alone, concealed a pair of Ugg shoes valued at $169.97, and exited without attempting to pay or surrender the concealed merchandise. On January 6, 2026, Defendant entered Retailer 1 alone, selected multiple fragrance kits, and concealed them on his person. Defendant then exited the store, setting off the EAS alarms without attempting to pay or surrender the concealed merchandise.
The total retail value of the merchandise taken was $214.94. On February 7, 2026, Defendant entered Retailer 2, concealed two fragrance kits valued at $270.00, and exited the store without attempting to pay for or forfeit the merchandise. On February 7, 2026, Defendant entered Retailer 1, selected multiple fragrance kits, and concealed them on his person. Defendant then exited the store without attempting to pay or to surrender the concealed merchandise, valued at $354.86. After exiting the store, Defendant was stopped by Apple Valley Police, and this merchandise was recovered.
The total value on the merchandise taken by Defendant in the five incidents is $1,179.74. Defendant has multiple prior convictions for theft along with multiple pending theft charges.
