On December 24, 2025, at approximately 1:45 A.M., the Baxter Police Department received a report of possible drug activity at a location on Edgewood Drive located in the City of Baxter, Crow Wing County, State of Minnesota. A citizen who identified himself reported observing the driver of a black or dark colored car and the driver of a truck talking. The identified citizen believed he observed the driver of the truck hand the driver of the car something. The driver of the truck then left the scene.
The driver of the car drove back to the u-haul storage units. He did not see the car leave the storage unit within the last 30 minutes. Officers Attenberger and Collette responded to the scene. Officer Attenberger located a grey Volkswagen car, MN plate SFC438, pull out from a unit with no headlights on. The vehicle parked back along the last row of storage units. Officer Attenberger approached the vehicle on foot and identified the male driver as MPK. The female in the front passenger seat was identified as Keri Ann Bumann, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter defendant.
Officer Attenberger smelled an odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle. Officer Collette approached the passenger door and spoke with the defendant. He observed what appeared to be an open container of alcohol in the side door pocket. Officer Collette opened the passenger door and the defendant confirmed it contained alcohol. A partially opened container of Fireball whiskey was also in the door pocket. Officer Collette believed the defendant displayed indicators of recent drug use. Officer Collette questioned her about possible recent drug use and she ultimately admitted she had methamphetamine in her right pocket.
Officer Attenberger located a baggie with a crystal substance in her right pocket. The baggie weighed 5.64 grams and field tested positive for methamphetamine which is a schedule II controlled substance. The substance was sent to the MN BCA for testing which revealed it weighed 5.263 grams and indicated the presence of methamphetamine. The defendant has a prior conviction for controlled substance crime in the fifth degree from October 12, 2012, on file 33-CR-08-56.
