On March 19, 2026, officers with the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to an in- progress theft occurring at a clothing store located in Dakota County. Dispatch advised that a loss prevention employee was monitoring a female and a male, later identified to be Robert Lewis Gray Jr. [DOB REDACTED], “Defendant” herein, who were gathering items in plastic bags and leaving the store without paying. Officers arrived on scene and stopped Defendant as he was backing out of a parking spot. Officers located the stolen items, which were valued at $1,184.00. Defendant was placed under arrest, and a search of his person revealed a pair of wire cutters in his coat pocket.
Loss prevention discovered that security wiring had been removed from items before Defendant left the store.
