On May 16, 2026, Minneapolis police were on routine patrol near 33rd Street East and Park Avenue South within the city of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, when they heard gunshots nearby. A ShotSpotter activation also alerted officers that gunfire had occurred. A report of a shooting was received at 3250 5th Avenue South, just blocks away. Officers located one male Victim with at least two gunshot wounds to his chest. Victim was transported to the hospital for medical aid after chest seals were completed on scene.
Witness 1 stated he, Victim, and 2 others were in the garage when Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Witness 1 opened the garage door and saw a suspect armed with a handgun. Victim 2 quickly closed the garage door. Shortly after, Witness 1 heard gunshots. Witness 1 also described seeing the suspects earlier in the day interacting with a black Infiniti sedan with a female driver. Witness 2 described that he went outside of the garage to urinate, and he saw multiple suspects approaching him and the garage. Witness 2 heard something like "Stop, we're going to kill you." Witness 2 then started running away until he managed to hide under a car.
Officers located 4 discharged cartridge casings (DCCs) in between the house and garage, numerous rounds of live ammunition and a handgun magazine near the street curb, and 4 or 5 DCCs in the alley. Minneapolis police located camera footage capturing the event from a business at 3300 4th Avenue South. At 1:16 AM, less than 10 minutes before the shooting, the video showed a black Infiniti sedan parking in front of the business. Four suspected males exited the vehicle. Soon after, three of the males were seen in possession of handguns and began to point the firearms at the street sign of 33rd St E / 4th Ave S with laser accessories activated.
The other male filmed the group pointing guns. A female driver, later identified as ANGELA HERNANDEZ [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant", exited the vehicle and filmed the group of suspect males with a cellphone. At one point, the Defendant was also given two firearms and posed for a photo in front of the black Infiniti. Defendant then got back into the driver’s seat of the vehicle and left the area, briefly left the group at the intersection, then returned to the area. When she returned, the vehicle drove by Victim’s residence where the shooting occurred.
Moments later, Defendant was heard on the surveillance camera saying “Babe, this guy just showed me his dick. The guy in the alley.” The group of suspect males then ran towards the Victim’s residence. Moments later, someone was heard saying “pop his ass!” followed by the sound of six (6) gunshots. The group could then be seen running back to the black Infiniti, where Defendant remained in the driver's seat and drove the group away. Approximately 1 minute later, the group then returned to the Victim's address in the black Infiniti and 10 more gunshots were heard.
