On March 30, 2026, MY gave SERENITY LA-MAI EVANS [DOB REDACTED] a ride while working for Lyft. MY was driving north on interstate 35E near Roselawn Avenue when Evans began acting out. MY pulled over and told Evans she wouldn’t drive her if she continued to act belligerently. Evans calmed down and got back in the car. MY drove them north on the interstate, but Evans acted up again. MY stopped on the right shoulder of eastbound Highway 36 at Arcade Street, Maplewood, Ramsey County. MY got out of her car, and Evans chased her.
Evans opened the car doors and pulled cords and cables in the center console. Evans got on top of MY’s car. Troopers arrived on the scene and asked Evans why she was on top of MY’s car. Evans replied, “She said I was crazy.” Trooper Ziemer convinced Evans to get down from atop the car. Trooper Ziemer believed Evans’ unusual behavior was due to alcohol and/or controlled substance impairment. Evans said, “My God, my Holy Father, told me I can do whatever I want.” Officers detained Evans in handcuffs.
Trooper Sims asked Evans where she wanted to go, and Evans replied, “Holy Bible.” Evans then turned and spat on Trooper Ziemer’s left boot. Trooper Sims took over dealing with Evans who was agitated by Trooper Ziemer’s presence. Evans said, “My God, I’m so drunk.” Evans wiped the bottom of her foot on Trooper Sims’ right thigh and said, “This is how much I respect you.” Evans then leaned forwards and spat on Trooper Sims’ trousers. Evans said, “Do that, and you ain’t gonna do shit about it…I can spit in your face right now, but I’m not disrespectful.” Evans leaned forward and spat on Trooper Sims’ left boot.
An ambulance responded to transport Evans to Regions Hospital at [ADDRESS REDACTED], St. Paul, Ramsey County. Evans acted up in her hospital room, and Trooper Ziemer handcuffed her. Evans turned and spat on Trooper Ziemer’s left shoulder and chest. Evans was brought to jail when medically cleared from the hospital.
