On May 21, 2026, at approximately 9:59 P.M., Officer Walkowiak was dispatched to a domestic call. Dispatch advised that HMA was seeking assistance in finding shelter and stated that a domestic had just occurred and that she was too scared to report it. Walkowiak made contact with HMA who stated that she had just gotten into a domestic with her "baby daddy", later identified as Kyle George Jacobs [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, on Quince Street in the City of Brainerd, County of Crow Wing, State of Minnesota.
HMA stated that she did not want to report the incident and did not want anyone to get in trouble. HMA had her young child [NAME REDACTED]. HMA stated that Defendant had been drinking earlier in the day to help with pain from a blood infection which led to a bad heart valve. HMA seemed hesitant to answer questions about the incident. HMA eventually reported that she was seated on the floor in the corner of the living room of the residence and was coloring in a coloring book. HMA stated that she then laughed at something Defendant said and that Defendant then punched HMA in the head approximately 3 times causing her pain and her head to hurt.
HMA stated that she attempted to block the punches and was able to block some of them and also attempted to grab and wrap her arms around Defendant to prevent any further assault. HMA did state that she had pain in her head and pointed towards the back left area of her head. HMA stated that she was in the corner of the room and was not able to easily get away at first and that Defendant kept pushing her back to the ground. HMA stated that she then got upstairs into a bedroom where Defendant then followed her and then pushed her down onto a bed.
HMA stated that while in the bedroom Defendant began punching her again. Defendant's son was in the room and told Defendant to stop punching HMA. HMA then woke her child up and left the residence. HMA stated that she has known Defendant for approximately 8 years and has a child [NAME REDACTED]. Law enforcement then went to Defendant's residence. Upon arrival, Defendant was not cooperative with officers. Officers then obtained a search warrant for Defendant's arrest. Officers entered the residence and located Defendant in a bedroom.
Defendant was placed under arrest on the listed charge. A review of Defendant's criminal history shows five prior qualified domestic violence-related convictions within the last ten years: two threats of violence convictions from April 3, 2023; a stalking conviction from September 16, 2021; a domestic assault conviction from November 7, 2019; and a domestic assault conviction from August 1, 2016.
