On October 6, 2025, at approximately 7:54 P.M., officers with the Burnsville Police Department responded to a theft complaint at a retail store locate on the 12200 block of River Ridge Boulevard, Burnsville, Dakota County, Minnesota. Prior to arrival, officers learned from dispatch that the reporting party, an employee of the store, observed a male concealing merchandise. The reporting party advised that he recognized the male from a prior incident and identified the male as AARON LEE MAY [DOB REDACTED]. Dispatch informed the officers that MAY had an active warrant.
Officer arrived at the store, located MAY in the vestibule, and arrested him. When they arrested him, MAY was wearing a backpack. During a search of MAY’s person and backpack, officers located concealed items. The total value of the stole merchandise was approximately $60. The backpack also held drug-related items, specifically a baggie containing a substance. The substance inside the baggie later field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and weighed approximately 1.28 grams.
MAY has a felony drug conviction in Minnesota under Chapter 152 from 2011. MAY has a warrant for theft-related portion of this case. See Court File No. 19AV-CR-25-10863. The County will be asking the city attorney to dismiss their case so that the drug and theft offenses can be prosecuted together. Since Defendant’s whereabouts are unknown, a complaint warrant is requested.
