On July 31, 2025, at approximately 12:16 A.M., an officer with the Apple Valley Police Department observed a male walking who appeared to be acting strange. The officer approached to check on the male, who identified himself as DANIEL WAYNE JOURDAIN [DOB REDACTED], herein the Defendant. The Defendant was advised that he was not being detained and was free to leave, and he walked away. The officer later conducted a record check on the male and learned he had an active warrant out of Hennepin County.
On his following shift that same day, at approximately 10:26 P.M., the same officer was advised that the Defendant was observed walking near the transit station. The officer located the Defendant on the corner of Cedar Avenue and 153rd Street West in the City of Apple Valley, the County of Dakota, the State of Minnesota. The Defendant was advised of his warrant and asked if he had cash to pay the bail. The Defendant did not have enough cash and a decision was made to arrest the Defendant. During the arrest, the Defendant resisted, tensing his arms to prevent officers from placing them behind his back.
Officers were ultimately able to place the Defendant under arrest, however he continued to resist efforts to search him incident to arrest. While searching the Defendant, officers observed a plastic baggie in his clenched hand. The baggie was ultimately extracted from his hand and contained a white, crystal-like substance. The substance was collected for preliminary NIK testing by the Dakota County Drug Task Force. The substance weighed 1.30 grams and tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
