On November 30, 2025, Plymouth Police responded to a burglary report at the Extra Space Storage, located at 15755 32nd Avenue in Plymouth, Hennepin County. Upon arrival, police spoke with the manager who reported that multiple units had been burglarized, and she was gathering video footage. Police spoke with a victim [NAME REDACTED] and learned that upon arriving at his storage unit, he found a lock on the door that did not belong to him. N. A. Discovered a large quantity of unpacked Pokémon and sports trading cards were missing.
N. A. Later provided a detailed inventory and the estimated stolen property was $92,280. On November 17, 2025, video was uploaded to the case and showed a male suspect removing a fully loaded cart of boxes, believed to be N. A.'s property, and loading them into a silver Dodge Journey (MN SPM964). The theft occurred on November 9, 2025, at approximately 5:30 P.M. The male suspect used the access code assigned to an account for 'Gabriel Cottier.' However, a search in MyBCA showed that Cottier did not match the suspect seen on CCTV. Police then examined individuals associated with the Minnesota license plate SPM964. The suspect did not match the registered owner.
Police were able to search the Accurint Virtual Crime Center and identified four police contacts involving the vehicle. Two of the incidents involved a male suspect identified as MARK ANTHONY SMITH JR [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The analyst contacted the Roseville Police regarding the past incident and learned Defendant was found asleep in the vehicle at an Extra Storage Space in Roseville, and the vehicle was filled with high value items. Police compared recent booking photographs and driver's license photographs and confirmed Defendant matched the suspect on the CCTV images from the burglary.
At present, Defendant is not in custody.
