On March 10, 2026, at approximately 9:18 P.M., officers with the Inver Grove Heights Police Department responded to a big-box store located on the 9100 block of Cahill Avenue, Inver Grove Heights, Dakota County, Minnesota, for a theft in progress complaint. Call notes indicated that a male, later identified as KALEB KRISTOFER JOHNSON [DOB REDACTED] had concealed items into a maroon- colored backpack. Upon arrival, officers confronted JOHNSON. Officers informed JOHNSON that they wanted all concealed items returned to the store.
JOHNSON provided the concealed merchandise as requested, which totaled $170.14. The store advised that they wanted JOHNSON and a female companion trespassed. JOHNSON verbally identified himself as “Giovanni Robert Johnson”, with a date of birth of January 30, 1999. The officer returned to his squad vehicle and ran the name provided by JOHNSON. The officer reviewed a photograph of “Giovanni”. The officer did not believe JOHNSON was “Giovanni”. Through investigation, the officer was able to identify JOHNSON. The officer learned that JOHNSON had active warrants.
The officer arrested JOHNSON. During a search of JOHNSON’s person, an officer located a concealed piece of merchandise on JOHNSON’s person. In JOHNSON’s backpack – the one in JOHNSON’s possession - the officer located a sunglasses case. The case held a black-colored cases, which held a substance. The substance field tested positive for the presence of fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance, and weighed approximately 0.20 grams. JOHNSON has a conviction in Minnesota under Chapter 152 from 2024.
