Michael Allen Sommers

On March 14, 2026, Spring Lake Park Police were dispatched to a residence located on Lakewood Drive NE in the City of Spring Lake Park, Anoka County, Minnesota, regarding a fight in progress. Calls notes indicated the suspect struck someone at the residence with a shovel. Upon arrival, Officers Barta and Drinkwine located a male JVN laying on top and restraining a male identified as MICHAEL ALLEN SOMMER, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter defendant. Officer Barta spoke with the female victim MRZ, who stated the defendant jumped the back fence, obtained a shovel from the back yard, broke down the rear door to the attached garage and struck MRZ on the head, and arms with the shovel.

Officers observed visible injuries on MRZ’s right hand and left forearm consistent with blunt force trauma. Officers spoke with additional witnesses at the residence who provided the same account of events.
