On November 26, 2025, at approximately 8:37 P.M., police officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Hastings, Dakota County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, police officers were met outside by a woman and her child. The woman directed the police officers inside the residence. As police officers approached, the front door opened, and a woman (hereinafter “Victim 1”) came running out and yelled, “help! He’s trying to kill me! He’s trying to kill me!” A male, later identified as TYRESE DESEAN JOHNSON [DOB REDACTED], was running after Victim 1. JOHNSON was placed in handcuffs.
JOHNSON advised that he had been stabbed and then fell over. JOHNSON had two stab wounds to his chest. Police officers and emergency medical personnel rendered aid to JOHNSON. JOHNSON was later transported to a hospital where he received medical treatment. Victim 1 gave a statement to police officers. Victim 1 explained that JOHNSON had pushed her to the ground while she was holding their five-month-old baby (hereinafter “Victim 2”). Then, JOHNSON got on top of her and applied pressure to her neck until she could not breathe.
Victim 1 believed that JOHNSON would kill her. Victim 1 was still holding Victim 2 during the strangulation. Victim 1 then stabbed JOHNSON in the chest. JOHNSON then continued strangling Victim 1, so she stabbed him a second time. Victim 1 reiterated that she believed she would have died if she had not grabbed the knife and stabbed JOHNSON. Victim 1’s neck was significantly bruised and bleeding. Victim 1 advised that her neck hurt badly. Victim’s voice was scratchy and strained. Police officers collected the knife involved.
