Probable Cause
On March 30, 2026, at approximately 9:15 P.M. Officers from the Inver Grove Heights Police Department responded to a report of a domestic assault at a residence on the 7200 block of Auburn Lane in Inver Grove Heights, Dakota County, MN. Upon arrival officers located an adult female, the victim herein at a neighbor’s house. The Victim told officers that her husband, RYAN JAMES GESELL [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein, put her into a choke hold. She reported that during an argument, he came up behind her and used his right arm around her neck, squeezing and applying pressure.
She struggled to breathe and was gasping for air. The Defendant then moved the victim to the stairs where he pinned her face down and put his knee into the small of her back, while maintaining his choke hold. Eventually the victim was able to get the Defendant off her and tried to grab her phone to call 911. The Defendant took her phone away and so she got out of the house and ran to the neighbors, where she was able to call 911. The ring doorbell camera at the neighbor’s house captured the victim coming over to the house looking distressed and continuing to look back toward her house to see if the Defendant was following her.
The neighbors and officers noticed and documented red marks on the victim’s neck. Officers spoke to the Defendant who stated he did get into an argument with the victim, [NAME REDACTED] only grabbed her wrist.
