On December 10, 2025, at approximately 1:22 A.M., a police officer was dispatched to a security alert at a city park building in Inver Grove Heights, Dakota County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, the police officer located fresh tire tracks and two set of footprints leading up to the building. The police officer examined the front door of the building and noticed the metal plate around the latch bolt had been bent back. Additionally, the fresh snow around the door had been disturbed as if the door had been opened.
Surveillance camera footage captured that incident. The footage showed a black GMC Yukon pull into the parking lot. Then, a white male, later identified as DAVID SCOTT NELSON [DOB REDACTED], approached the building. NELSON used a crowbar to open the door and entered the building. NELSON then walked around the interior of the building but did not take anything. NELSON returned the GMC, got in the passenger side, and the GMC drove away.
