On November 25, 2025, at 8:21 A.M. A West Saint Paul Police Officer received a report of an individual attempting to gain access to a building in the City of West Saint Paul, Dakota County Minnesota. When the officer arrived, he observed the individual, later identified as the above named defendant, Dashan Darelle McCraney holding a glass containing an orange liquid and when the officer got closer to the defendant, could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the defendant. The defendant was attempting to call the person he wanted to visit on his phone, but his phone was not working.
The officer then offered to call the person on his phone for the defendant and contacted the person and learned where the defendant needed to go to meet the person. The officer then learned there was a warrant out for the defendant’s arrest. The officer attempted to place the defendant under arrest and into handcuffs and the defendant resisted, but the officer eventually was able to handcuff the defendant. In the defendants right, front, pants pocket was a clear plastic bag containing a white rock substance the officer believed was cocaine, based upon its physical appearance.
The substance was later preliminarily tested, and the test indicated the presence of, cocaine and it weighed 3.37 grams.
