On or about February 17, 2026, Shawn Patrick Herrera [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter “Defendant,” entered Embellir, a jewelry store located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Mendota Heights, MN 55118. Defendant purchased a diamond ring for $15,000 a well as a set of diamond earrings for $5,000. With tax the invoice paid for $21,625. Defendant paid for the jewelry by check. On February 23, 2026, the owner of Embellir was notified that Defendant’s check had bounced as the account it was associated with was closed.
Law enforcement was alerted and subsequently made contact with I. H., and adult male fully identified in police reports, who worked at Cheddar Mobile Buying Service. I. H. Indicated that he had purchased the ring and earrings from Defendant on February 18, 2026, and that Defendant had purchased the items for his wife, but that she did not like them, so he had decided to sell them. Defendant sold the two items of jewelry to Cheddar Mobile Buying Service for a total of $4800.
