On February 17, 2026, officers with the Rosemount Police Department responded to a business on 150th Street West in the City of Rosemount, County of Dakota, Minnesota, for a report of a weapon that had been found inside the store. Officers arrived and reviewed security footage in which a man can be seen placing a folded jacket behind packages of paper towels on the store shelf and walking away. Later, an employee finds the jacket, discovers what she believes to be a firearm in the pocket of the jacket, and brings the jacket to a secure location inside the store.
No other individuals are observed in the area between the time the man placed the jacket on the store shelf and the time that the employee located the jacket. Inside the pocket of the jacket, officers located a pill bottle containing a small plastic bag full of crystal-like substance. The substance NIK tested positive for methamphetamine and had a net weight of.10 grams. Officers also located a flare gun that had been spray painted black and contained a shotgun shell in its barrel. Officers were able to positively identify the man who left the jacket on the store shelf as Eric Andrew Hanson, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant.
Defendant was previously convicted of possession of methamphetamine in Polk County, Wisconsin, court file number 48-2021-CF-000562 in January 2024. Defendant was also adjudicated delinquent for attempted second degree burglary in LeSueur County, Minnesota, court file number 40-J4-99-050309 in September 1999.
