On January 5, 2026, Dakota County Sheriff’s Deputies and Correctional Officers responded to an assault in the Dakota County Jail. There is video footage of the incident. Defendant JACQUELINE O’HARA PEDERSEN [DOB REDACTED] was in custody at the jail in a cell in the integrated health unit. A correctional officer (“Victim”) was preparing to give Defendant some water and opened the cell door. As Victim [NAME REDACTED] into Defendant’s cup, Defendant stepped forward and kicked Victim [NAME REDACTED]. On the video, Victim [NAME REDACTED] from the kick and stepping backwards into the hallway.

Defendant follows Victim [NAME REDACTED] attack Victim and reaches towards his neck area. Another correctional officer enters the hallway and helps control Defendant. In a Mirandized statement, Defendant admitted that she remembered kicking Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Defendant said that she was “just scared.” Defendant is in custody.
