On January 25, 2026, in the City of Lakeville, County of Dakota, State of Minnesota, officers were dispatched to a residence. An open 911 call recorded a woman was crying on an open line and telling an unknown person to “put the gun away.” Officers arrived and located Dorian Lancelot Maldonado, 5/11/1996, defendant herein, and Victim inside. Defendant and Victim are family or household members. Officers spoke with defendant first who stated there was a verbal argument. Victim [NAME REDACTED], but claimed it was because she stuck her finger in a fishing lure while breaking defendant’s personal items.
The next day, Victim [NAME REDACTED] injured from defendant pistol whipping her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] went to the hospital where she received three staples in her head. Officers documented staples and a lump on Victim’s head, bruising along her rib cage, eyelid, and arms, a swollen finger, and pain to her collarbone, hips, and jaw. Victim explained that defendant became angry when she went out with friends. When she returned home, he was intoxicated. A fight ensued and Victim attempted to call 911, defendant took her phone.
While in the bathroom, defendant shoved Victim [NAME REDACTED], causing her to strike her head. Defendant them pulled her out by her hair and began punching and kicking her abdomen. While Victim attempted to catch her breath, defendant grabbed a gun and racked it. Defendant hit her on the head with the firearm. Defendant then pointed the gun at her and told her to unlock her phone or he would kill her. Victim unlocked the phone and dialed 911. Victim then hid the gun prior to law enforcement arrival.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] initially lied about her source of her injury to police to prevent defendant from getting into trouble. Officers executed a search warrant and located the firearm, a handgun. Officers also documented areas of blood consistent with Victim’s version of events. Officers obtained text messages. In the messages, Victim repeatedly expresses anger for defendant assaulting her. She describes her injuries in detail. Defendant initially apologizes and states he is trying hard not to die by suicide.
Defendant then attempts to convince her to still allow him to see his kids.
