On or about January 4, 2025, at approximately 5:23 A.M., ShotSpotter detected seven gunshots, likely from an automatic weapon, near the 2100 block of Bryant Ave N. In Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers responded, observed six bullet holes in and around a window to a nearby house, and recovered five 9mm discharged cartridge casings (DCCs). Officers spoke with a witness who stated they suspected that Defendant JOVEN DEVON LOUIS WALLACE ([DOB REDACTED]) was responsible for the shooting and informed officers of a vehicle Defendant is known to drive.
Nearby surveillance cameras captured a man running from the front of the house toward the alley after the shots. A few seconds later, a vehicle consistent with Victim's description of Defendant's vehicle traveled northbound out of the alley. Pursuant to a separate investigation, officers executed a search warrant at Defendant's residence in St. Paul. There, they recovered a 9mm handgun that matched the DCCs at the scene of the shooting. Officers obtained Defendant's cellular location data and learned his phone was at the scene of the shooting.
Defendant is not in custody. He has at least seven felony criminal convictions and is prohibited from possessing firearms due to three convictions for first degree burglary. He represents a danger to public safety and your complainant therefore requests a warrant for his arrest.
