On January 9, 2025, at approximately 9:46 PM law enforcement responded to McDonald’s, Faribault, Rice County, for a report of a person in a black car waving around a gun. Law enforcement spoke with a reporting party at McDonalds. The reporting party said the driver of the black vehicle was driving erratically through the drive through. The reporting party wrote down the vehicle’s information and provided it to law enforcement. The reporting party said that a female was driving the black vehicle and there were two male passengers in it as well.
Law enforcement also spoke with a McDonalds employee. The employee told law enforcement they saw a male in the recklessly driving vehicle. That male was also waiving a gun around. The employee could tell the person waving the gun around was upset. The employee said the gun was never pointed at anyone, but it was being waved around. Law enforcement located the suspect vehicle in Faribault, Rice County. There was a female driver and two male passengers. The front seat passenger was identified as MARK JOSEPH JOHNSON, [DOB REDACTED] (“Defendant”). The Defendant admitted to being at McDonalds.
The Defendant said someone yelled at him, so he yelled back. The Defendant also admitted there was a gun under the floor mat. Law enforcement located a suspected firearm under the front passenger seat. It appeared to be a real handgun, but was later determined to be an airsoft gun. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn.
