On March 25, 2025, around 10:46pm, officers responded to a domestic assault at the Terrace Manor Apartments, 375 83rd Ave NE, Spring Lake Park, Anoka County, MN. The victim, [NAME REDACTED]G., approached a neighbor for help because her ex-boyfriend, TAHJER CHARLES WINSTON [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein, was in possession of a firearm and assaulted her. Upon arrival, officers observed that SSG was scared, anxious, and crying, and she stated that it was not safe and that she couldn't stay there.
Officers also observed marks on SSG's wrist, chest, and back, along with bruising on her shoulder. SSG told the officers that the Defendant was still living with her there and that they had argued about people coming over. SSG eventually threw the Defendant's phone off the balcony, and he then strangled her with both hands, making it hard for her to breathe. She said he also picked her up and threw her onto the floor of the apartment, causing her to hit her head. She explained that the Defendant tried to take her phone when she called 911 and left the residence with it.
Furthermore, SSG stated that the Defendant had a handgun, which he threatened to pistol-whip her with, and that he used it to break her television. She also provided a gun case labeled for a Glock 30 Gen 5 with serial #PA305S201, which was reported stolen from a police station in South Carolina. Additionally, SSG turned over a bag containing bullets, two magazines loaded with bullets, one empty magazine, a magazine reloader, and a firearm flashlight.
