On January 19, 2026, at approximately 7:36 P.M., Saint Paul Officers responded to the 1700 block of Stillwater Avenue, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, on a call where caller’s fiancé was smashing things, threw a dog, and had a handgun in his front right pocket. Officers arrived and met MMB, the 911 caller. MMB was visibly shaken. There were clothing items and food strewn all over the living room. MMB said at around 7:20 P.M., she and her children returned home. DARRELL EDMUND LEWIS, [DOB REDACTED], was drunk.
He began yelling at her and calling her names. He picked up her daughter’s dog and threw it across the room to get a reaction from her daughter. LEWIS went into the kitchen. MMB told her children to go to their room. MMB went to the kitchen and found LEWIS standing with a firearm in his front right waistband. He yelled to the children that they might not have a father or mother by the end of the night. MMB described the firearm as having a gray/black handle. MMB walked away and called 911. LEWIS passed her while she was on the phone with 911. He left with the firearm.
MMB agreed to let officers search the residence for the firearm. MMB said LEWIS keeps the firearm on top of the kitchen cabinets. Officers did not locate the firearm. In a subsequent conversation with an investigator, MMB said she did not see LEWIS grab the firearm, but said she saw it in his front pocket of his pajamas. LEWIS told the children they wouldn’t have a father and maybe a mother after tonight. Officers found LEWIS at a neighbor’s residence and was arrested. Officers did not find a firearm on LEWIS. After a Miranda advisory, LEWIS spoke to an officer.
He said he and his fiancé, MMB, got into a verbal argument last night. On January 19th, MMB took their children shopping. He stayed at home. When MMB returned, she became upset with him and they argued. He left for his sister’s home, and then returned. MMB threatened to call the police on him and said he would go to jail. He replied, “What are you talking about? F*** you.” MMB called the police. He ran to his neighbor’s house. LEWIS said no firearm was involved. He said he does not own a firearm because he cannot possess them due to a past conviction.
