On February 27, 2026, Coon Rapids Police were dispatched to the Mississippi View Apartments in Coon Rapids, Anoka County, on a report of a man who had just been threatened with a handgun. At the scene, T. K. Reported that he had just parked his vehicle in the garage, and was still inside the vehicle, when a man later identified as Defendant Ben Samual Deschampe ([DOB REDACTED]), approached him and accused him of parking in the wrong spot. Defendant was wearing a reflective safety vest and had another man with him, B. D. Defendant reached through T. K.’s open vehicle window and punched him in the face.
T. K. Started to exit his vehicle, but Defendant pulled out a black handgun and pointed it at T. K., who then retreated back to his vehicle and called police. Police located Defendant at the scene, and he surrendered immediately to police. In a Mirandized statement, Defendant admitted punching T. K., but denied possessing a handgun at that time. However, a reflective safety vest and a handgun matching the description T. K. Gave were found in Defendant’s apartment, and the entire incident was caught on surveillance footage in the garage, which corroborated T. K.’s version of events.
Defendant does not have a valid permit to carry a firearm.
