At approximately 3:50 AM on August 27, 2025, Officer was in the area of 5XX E 19th Street, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, executing a high-risk search warrant related to an investigation into narcotics and weapons. Officer observed multiple people running out of an apartment building. Officer observed these individuals appear to hide along parked cars. One of the individuals, later identified as Michael J’E Thompson (herein Defendant), made his way back north along the east side of the parking lot between the parked vehicles and a 6' fence.
Officer told Defendant to stop and show Officer his hands. Defendant reached into the waistband area of his pants. Officer believed Defendant was reaching for a firearm. Officer yelled "gun," drew his firearm, and ordered Defendant to put his hands up. Officer heard the sound of plastic hitting the pavement from the area where Defendant was coming from. Defendant continued walking northbound in the parking lot between a vehicle and the fence. Defendant put his hands up. Officer ordered Defendant to the ground.
Upon patting down Defendant for weapons, Defendant said, “It’s in my leg, left leg.” Officer recovered a firearm. Defendant is prohibited from possessing a firearm. His prior adjudications include the following: 1. Possess Ammo/Pistol/Assault Weapon - Under 18 yrs Old; Adjudicated delinquent: 5/6/2024 2. Possess Ammo/Pistol/Assault Weapon - Under 18 yrs Old; Adjudicated delinquent:5/6/2024 Defendant is currently out of custody.
