On or about January 8th at 6:25 pm Officers with the Brooklyn Park Police Department responded to a residence on the 8100 block of Idaho Ave N in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, a juvenile female led the officers downstairs where there was a struggle happening between an adult female, an adult male, and a juvenile male. The adult female was identified as JFS, Victim 1 herein. She stated that the adult male was her ex-boyfriend, William Jones, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.
She and defendant used to be in a romantic relationship and share a child together. Defendant has also been living with her family in this residence for over a month. The juvenile male was identified as her son, not related to the Defendant, who also resides at that residence, Victim 2 herein. Victim 1 stated that she had told Defendant to move out and attempted to pack his things. She began to throw his things into a laundry basket which upset him. He told her to stop, she did not. He grabbed her by the neck and attempted to choke her.
She punched him in the face and chest to stop the choking. He then stated that if she kept packing his stuff he would make tonight "a night to remember." Victim 1 stated that during the choking she struggled to breath. Victim 1 continued to try and pack the defendant's things; he then began to assault her again by grabbing her throat even harder. At this time Victim 2 came downstairs. Upon seeing the Defendant choking his mother, he pushed the Defendant off of her. Defendant and Victim 2 then began to fight.
At one point during the fight the Defendant had victim 2 in a headlock and landed several punches on his face. Victim 1 grabbed an object and hit Defendant in the head so that he would release her son from a headlock. Officers took the Defendant into custody. The Defendant remains in custody on this charge.
