On February 2, 2026, Defendant Zeeleseh Thomas Korti ([DOB REDACTED]) was arrested for second-degree assault in Anoka County after it is alleged that he brandished a handgun at several people in a local restaurant. Defendant is 18 years old but remains a high-school student, and law enforcement notified the Anoka Police of their investigation. During this investigation, law enforcement learned from the alleged victims that Defendant had previously brought a firearm to school. Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Defendant's Snapchat account.
In Defendant's Snapchat account, Anoka Police found two videos that Defendant had taken of himself in the Anoka High School bathrooms. One video was taken on January 14, 2026, and showed Defendant filming himself in the mirror. As he smoked a vape pen, Defendant pulled out what appeared to be a black handgun from his clothing, and displayed it on the video. Defendant also opened the magazine to reveal live ammunition. On January 26, 2026, Defendant took a second video of himself, where he is again displaying a black firearm from his waistband.
Defendant pulled the firearm out, showed it on the video, and then took out a second handgun, with a brown or tan grip sleeve. The Anoka High School Resource Officer confirmed that Defendant was on the premises of the High School on both January 14 and 26, and located surveillance footage of Defendant entering the boys' bathrooms moments before the videos were created. It should be noted that incidental to the Snapchat warrant, law enforcement found several other videos where Defendant was brandishing a handgun, but these did not appear to take place on the premises of any school zone or other protected location.
