On September 30, 2025, police responded to a residence in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. The caller reported that her daughter was in an inappropriate relationship with a 30 year old, and the suspect was blackmailing her daughter with inappropriate videos and photographs. Police spoke with V1 (YOB: 2007), who told police that she met the suspect, later fully identified as MARQUISE DARNELL PERRY – [DOB REDACTED], in September of 2024 when they began working together at Taco Bell. V1 said that she told PERRY that she was 17 years old, and he told her that he was 20 years old.
V1 advised that they began a romantic relationship in December of 2024, and that as part of their relationship, they had consensual sex. V1 reported that on one occasion in December of 2024, she invited PERRY over to her home in St. Paul and snuck him in through her bedroom window. V1 told police that PERRY provided her with cannabis, and she became intoxicated after smoking it. V1 reported that they had sexual intercourse during that encounter, but she did not remember until PERRY showed her the video in February of 2025 when she ended their relationship because she discovered PERRY’s actual age.
After ending the relationship, V1 said PERRY continued to message her through text message and several social media applications. In the messages, V1 reported that PERRY sent the video of the two of them having sexual intercourse and told V1 that he would delete the video if she had sex with him. V1 advised that she had sexual intercourse with PERRY more than 10 times, and each time PERRY promised to delete the video but did not. V1 told police that she deleted the video from his phone, but PERRY sent her the video again and threatened to post it if she did not have sex with him.
V1 reported that the last time PERRY coerced her into having sex was July 4, 2025, at which point V1 was still 17 years old. V1 realized that PERRY was not going to delete the video, so she blocked him and got a new phone number. V1 said that PERRY got her new number and continued to send her the video and try to coerce her into having sex with him. V1 reported that the last text PERRY sent to her was the previous day (September 29). V1 provided screenshots and messages to police, which corroborated her report that PERRY sent her numerous messages containing the video of the two of them having sex and making threats to post and disseminate it to others if V1 did not engage in sexual acts with him.
On October 2, 2025, police took PERRY into custody on a pick up and hold. Following a Miranda advisory, PERRY confirmed that he met V1 at work and said V1 told him that she was 18 years old. When asked about the video of the two of them having sex, PERRY reported that V1 recorded the video, and it was now gone because he did not want to deal with it. When asked about his relationship with V1, PERRY responded that they go back and forth where they talk to each other then leave each other alone. When asked about the comments he made to V1 about showing the video to other people, PERRY replied that while at work, he made comments about showing people the video of him and V1 having sex to show them “the real V1” because V1 acts too “bougie and uppity.” PERRY reported that he gave V1 his phone so she could delete the video.
