All of the conduct described herein occurred within the County of St. Louis, State of Minnesota, unless otherwise noted. May 29, 2026, Officers were dispatched to the Emergency Department at St Lukes Hospital to investigate a reported domestic assault. The victim, [NAME REDACTED] was waiting for an officer outside her assigned hospital room with a blood towel pressed against her nose. ENB showed trauma to her face, with blood coming from a cut on her nose and visible swelling to her nose. ENB said she was out with her boyfriend Justin Hester, delivering Instacart deliveries, then she asked him to take her to her residence in Wisconsin after the last delivery.
Hester did not want to go “over the bridge” so she offered to go to Hester’s dad’s house on Clyde Ave in Duluth. ENB intended for Hester’s dad to provide her a ride home to Wisconsin. Hester began asking ENB about prior relationships which she did not want to discuss. When driving on the Grand Avenue on ramp, still in St. Louis County, MN, Hester struck ENB in the face with the back of his hand. ENB said she immediately began bleeding from her nose. She described her nose as “pissing blood” and that Hester looked nervous after that and took off his shirt to help her stop the bleeding.
After Hester handed ENB his shirt, he forced her head down into his lap while he was driving and pressed his finger or thumb into the back of her head and neck area. She said this forced her head down and caused her significant pain. ENB tried to push Hester off her and kicked the steering column of his car. This knocked the transmission out of gear and started the windshield wipers to go. Hester then threatened to smash ENB’s phone because she broke his car. ENB said that she thought that he was going to break her phone to keep her from calling police.
ENB asked Hester to take her to the emergency room, but Hester turned on the street before the parking ramp outside the emergency room instead of taking her directly to the hospital for assistance. While she thought Hester was trying to drive past or away from the hospital emergency department, ENB got out of the car with her bag and ran to the emergency room door. ENB reported that Hester has two pending cases in Wisconsin for domestic battery in December 2025 and January 2026 with ENB as the victim. [2026CM000066 filed 02/05/2026 for offense date 01/14/2026 and 2026CM000052 filed 02/24/2026 for offense date 02/10/2026]. A condition of release in each of these cases is that Hester have no contact with ENB. Officers located a vehicle that matched the description ENB gave parked in front of Hester’s dad’s residence on Clyde Ave in Duluth.
A search warrant was granted, and the vehicle was towed to the Public Safety Building. Officers could see a large pattern of red substance consistent with dried blood inside the car, and also saw that one of the levers from the side of the steering column was broken and hanging down, as ENB described. ENB expressed fear of Hester and said she was afraid to testify against him but that she did want charges 2 69DU-CR-26-1774 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 6/4/2026 filed.
