On December 22, 2025, Brooklyn Park Police received a theft report at the Brooklyn Park Police Department, located at 5400 85th Avenue North in Brooklyn Park, Hennepin County. Dispatch advised the caller's cousin L. M. Had passed away and that a burglary had occurred. Police arrived and spoke with D. M. Who reported they were going through their deceased cousin's bank account and noticed activity after he had passed. D. M. Believed the suspect may have gotten information from L. M.'s house that had been burglarized after L. M. Died on November 12, 2025. D. M. Provided L. M.'s account statement from Huntington Bank, which showed numerous transactions between 11/15/25-12/21/25. An investigator reviewed L. M.'s bank statements and observed multiple transactions after the date of his death.
One of the transactions appeared to be to pay off the suspect's credit card with Synchrony Bank in the amount of $3,957.28. Some of the transactions were for Lyft and Uber, with an attached phone number ending in 2268. The phone number was listed to W. R. With an address on the 7800 block of Tessman Drive North. Police are familiar with this address not for W. R., but for his son, JOSEPH WILLIAM REYNOLDS [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Police searched Defendant's name in LeadsOnline and noted that when Defendant previously pawned a music amplifier, he listed the Tessman Drive address.
On February 4, 2026, the investigator received a reply to a search warrant from Synchrony Bank, who stated the account that received the $3,957.28 payment is a Guitar Center account owned by Defendant. On February 10, 2026, police received receipts from an employee at Guitar Center which showed Defendant purchased a Gibson Les Paul guitar with a listed serial number as well as other items. These items were purchased on 09/29/2025, and L. M.'s card was later used to pay off the Synchrony Bank card.
On February 11, 2026, police applied for a residential search warrant. On February 18, 2026, Brooklyn Park Police and SWAT assisted in the execution of a search warrant at Defendant's residence, located on the 7800 block of Tessman Drive North. After drone deployment, Defendant was located hiding in the rafters and was then taken into custody. Upon searching the residence, police located the Gibson Les Paul guitar and confirmed the serial number matched the guitar listed in the search warrant. Police located the guitar center gear card (Synchrony Bank) ending in 9988, used to purchase the guitar, and subsequently paid off by the deceased L. M.'s card.
Police found several documents, bank cards, mail in other people's names, and several fake checks written out to Defendant and his girlfriend. Police also located approximately 30 pages of spreadsheets that appear to contain personally identifiable information for people across the United States. Police located a Charles Schwab check bearing the name of the deceased victim [NAME REDACTED] that had been attempted to be washed. At present, Defendant is in custody. The investigation is ongoing and the State will amend the complaint as additional information becomes available.
