On December 12, 2025 at approximately 2304 hours, Dep. Pagel of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to 90th Avenue SE in Orion Township, Olmsted County to a report of domestic assault. On arrival, Pagel encountered an adult female, fully identified in police reports and hereinafter referred to as “Victim”, who stated that defendant herein, Steven Arthur Schmoll [DOB REDACTED] has assaulted her by wrapping his T-shirt around her neck and pulled it tight. Defendant was drunk when he came home from work around 1730 hours.
Victim stated that the two drank and played games. Defendant was angry and decided to go to sleep around 2100 hours. Victim heard defendant getting dressed while she watched TV on her laptop at around 2230 hours. She stated that defendant came into the kitchen where she sat, and grabbed her face with both hands, palms open, squeezed and stated “just leave me alone.” She asked defendant what he was doing and where he was going, then defendant put his T-shirt around her neck and pulled the ends, tightening it around her neck.
She stated that she did not experience any difficulty breathing. She kicked defendant away from her, and told him to leave because she was calling 911. She stated that she was shocked and scared that he had done that with his shirt. Victim disclosed a history of defendant’s physical abuse, and stated that he has no control over himself when he drinks. Defendant has prior conviction for Felony DANCO violation, convicted on 3/11/2019 in court file numbered ••-CR-••-••••, and Violation of Order for Protection, convicted on 2/26/2018 in court file numbered 55- CR-17-3704. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
