Probable Cause
On September 19, 2025, JUSTICE ALEC EINBERGER [DOB REDACTED] went to Target at 2199 Highway 36 East, North St. Paul, Ramsey County. Einberger selected Champion sweatpants from the store and put them on. Einberger selected other items and took them into a fitting room. Einberger exited the fitting room wearing the clothes he had entered with. Einberger left the store without paying for the items. Loss prevention tried stopping Einberger but he ran to a Subaru bearing Minnesota license plates HSN882. Loss prevention had contacted police and pointed out Einberger’s Subaru.
Einberger drove around the parking lot at a high rate of speed searching for an exit. Officer Jaeger activated his squad’s emergency lights, but Einberger refused to stop. Einberger exited the Target parking lot and drove through a nearby Taco Bell’s drive-thru lane with Officer Jaeger behind him. Einberger then pulled into a parking spot at Taco Bell and exited the driver’s seat. Officers detained Einberger who identified himself as his brother Jeffrey Allen Einberger [DOB REDACTED]. Einberger claimed to have swallowed 4-5 grams of fentanyl, and he was taken to the hospital instead of arrested.
A loss prevention employee arrived at Taco Bell and identified Einberger as the shoplifter they had tried to stop. Officers recovered $97 worth of clothing stolen from Target from Einberger. Einberger's brother was initially charged in this matter. That case was dismissed and Einberger was properly identified as the thief who fled in the Subaru based on his tattoos. Einberger has 6 prior felony convictions including a prior conviction for fleeing police in a motor vehicle. On March 25, 2026, a warrant was issued for Einberger's arrest in Scott Count District Court file 70-CR- 26-3010.
