On November 19, 2025, Fridley Police went to the Krispy Kreme located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], in the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota, after receiving an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) hit for a vehicle that recently fled from Robbinsdale Police. The 2023 Mercedes Benz bearing MN plate ZRV832 was parked in the lot and showed and an active KOPS alert for the Robbinsdale incident. Officers located the vehicle in the drive through and waited for an opportunity to complete a suppression stop, parking one vehicle immediately in front of the vehicle and another unmarked squad immediately behind the vehicle, with additional squads next to the vehicle.
As officers initiated the stop the vehicle lurched forward striking one squad and reversing quickly striking the rear squad car. It was apparent to officers the driver, later fully identified as Treshawn Davonte Smith-Jones [DOB REDACTED] was attempting to use his vehicle to flee from police. Officers observed him jump into the rear seat and quickly exit the rear passenger door and began to flee on foot. He pushed several officers in his efforts to escape. He was able to push one officer to the ground causing scratching to his face.
Officers also noticed he was carrying two plastic bags containing white powdery substance which he was trying to rip open as he fled. One bag did open, and the contents spilled into the air around Defendant and officers. That substance would later field test positive for Fentanyl. Officer Johnson, Detective Desjardins and Detective Smith were all evaluated for possible Fentanyl exposure. Police then immediately searched the vehicle and the surrounding area and located 1 plastic bag containing 51.1 grams of field test positive fentanyl, another bag containing 15.3 gram of fentanyl, two scales with a white residue.
Police also confiscated over $3,000 in cash on the Defendant’s person, as well as a pill bottle containing 3 counterfeit M30 pills. The Defendant has previously been convicted of Controlled Substance Crime in the Second degree in violation of Minnesota Statute 152.022. See Hennepin County District Court file number 27-CR-24-23850.
