On 4/21/2026, MPD officers were dispatched to 3XXX Dupont Ave S, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, for a domestic assault in progress. Dispatch advised that a female was being assaulted by her boyfriend in the basement. Additional information indicated that callers could hear a female yelling statements such as "stop" and "you're choking me," followed by crying. Dispatch also advised there had been multiple prior domestic-related calls at this address throughout the night. Upon arrival, officers responded to the rear of the building as directed and made contact with the caller, Witness WG, who led officers to the room where the female was located.
Officers stood outside the door briefly and could hear a female crying. Officers attempted to open the door, but it was locked. Officers knocked and announced themselves as police. A male, later identified as LEWIS KOREE WILLIAMS, [DOB redacted] (now referred to as "Defendant") inside acknowledged officers. Officers ordered the male to open the door, or it would be forced open. Defendant stated he needed to get dressed and continued to delay opening the door. Eventually it was unlocked. Officers immediately entered and conducted a check of the room.
The female, later identified as Victim SJ, pointed and stated, "He went out the window." Additional officers canvassed the area while primary officers remained with the victim. Defendant was not located. Victim SJ stated her boyfriend, Defendant, had choked her and said she was "tired of this" and wanted him to leave her alone. Victim SJ was visibly shaking and crying uncontrollably. Officer observed multiple cuts and abrasions on the left side of her face and near her eye, and scratch marks around her neck.
Victim SJ explained, "He choked me. I thought I was going to die." Each time she wiped her face, blood was visible on her hands. Medics were requested Code 3 to evaluate her. Victim SJ then became uncooperative, refused medical services, and stopped answering questions. She stated officers would not do anything about the situation and she did not want any action taken. Officer reassured her action would be taken and encouraged her to assist with the investigation. Officers then spoke with Witness WG who stated he had called multiple times in the past.
He reported that on a previous occasion he attempted to intervene. Witness WG expressed concern for Victim SJ's safety and stated he believes Defendant may kill her if the situation continues. Witness WG stated he did not witness the incident directly tonight, as it occurred behind closed doors, but heard crying and distress including the sound of being hit and "gargling" as Victim SJ was being strangled. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 5/8/2026 Victim SJ's mother then arrived to pick her up.
