Probable Cause
On or about March 9, 2026, police located a confirmed stolen vehicle, a 2025 Toyota Highlander with Minnesota license plates ZNS373. The vehicle was at a gas station but began travelling around north Minneapolis. Police continued to monitor and watch the vehicle but lost visual of it. Eventually, police located the vehicle in an alley on the 1400 block of 16th Avenue North in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. In the same area was another confirmed stolen vehicle. Police observed the driver walking from the vehicle and tried to stop the individual.
However, the individual fled police on foot. The individual who fled was arrested and identified as LUIS ALEJANDRO PERIERA [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. During a search of Defendant police located a fixed blade knife sheath. The knife that was for the sheath was found inside the confirmed stolen Highlander. Defendant told police he bought the vehicle for $100.00 earlier in the day. Defendant is currently in custody for this offense.
