Upon arrival, officers spoke with P. H. Who reported a shoplifting had occurred and described the suspect to be a white male, approximately 40-50 years old. The merchandise taken was later determined to be a remote control truck valued at $1,499.95. P. H. Reported the male left the store without paying for the merchandise and got into a white Buick, placing the merchandise in the passenger seat. P. H. Attempted to physically retrain the suspect who then repeatedly pushed him away while yelling obscenities.
The suspect then placed the vehicle in reverse and almost ran P. H. Over. During the struggle, the suspect's black Adidas hat fell off his head and onto the ground. P. H. Recovered the hat and provided it to law enforcement. Officers spoke with witnesses who provided additional information about the suspect and his vehicle. While speaking with N. S., officers learned while the suspect was fleeing from the store, he put the vehicle in reverse and dragged the driver's side door against her vehicle which caused visible damage in the form of dents and paint transfer.
The suspect did not stop to provide driver and insurance information after the collision. N. S. Was in her vehicle at the time of the collision. DNA testing was conducted on the black Adidas hat which returned a match through the convicted offender database as ROY SCOTT MAVERICK FELTY [DOB REDACTED]. Further investigation revealed that he matched the physical description of the suspect and that he had a vehicle registered to him that matched the vehicle driven by the suspect. FELTY currently has pending charges to include theft, fleeing a peace officer in the motor vehicle, and giving a false name to a peace officer.
Therefore, a warrant is respectfully requested.
