On June 26, 2025, officers responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle at a gas station at [ADDRESS REDACTED], in the City of Minneapolis, County of Hennepin, State of Minnesota. Officers were informed that a dark colored SUV had been driving around in the parking lot. Officers also learned that the registered owner of the vehicle had an active DOC warrant. Officers arrived and approached the vehicle, which had two individuals in the front seats. Officers were met by the driver who was later identified as DAJION JAKAR STRICKLING, Defendant herein.
The Defendant was not the registered owner of the vehicle with the DOC warrant. Officers were simultaneously approaching the passenger in the vehicle to identify if he was the registered owner of the vehicle with the DOC warrant. The passenger was later identified as Sebastian Pratt who is charged in corresponding case file ••-CR-••-••••. Pratt immediately took off running after exiting the vehicle, ignoring commands from officers to stop. Officers followed Pratt, who dropped a stolen Glock 19 with a 30-round extended magazine, while fleeing Officers on foot.
He was later apprehended. Officers who remained with the Defendant at the vehicle with the driver's side door opened, located a second firearm partially in a sock in plain view on the driver's seat where the Defendant had been seated. The firearm on the seat was a Glock 36 pistol. In a post-Miranda statement, Pratt told officers that he had been in possession of the Glock 19 and that it was the same one that had reportedly been stolen on May 6, 2025. In a post-Miranda statement, the Defendant stated to Officers he did not know about the Glock 36 on the driver's seat and that Pratt must have placed it there.
DNA was collected from both firearms, Pratt and the Defendant. The Defendant was found to be included in the DNA mixture on the Glock 36 that was located on the Defendant's seat. Based on a review of Defendant's criminal history, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm based on the following convictions/adjudications of delinquency: ••-CR-••-••••- 1st degree burglary; and 27-CR-18- 26392- prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The Defendant is also currently pending a second prohibited person in possession of a firearm in case file ••-CR-••-•••• with a date of offense of March 16, 2026. The State is therefore requesting this complaint issue by warrant.
