On April 12, 2026, at approximately 2:19 A.M., Saint Paul Officers responded to the 1000 block of Third Street, Saint Paul, County of Ramsey, on a domestic assault. The dispatch notes included boyfriend hurt complainant, a female was heard crying, and a male and female were arguing. Officers arrived and observed TLF (later identified) exiting the residence and a male-later identified as JOHNNY LEE BARNES, [DOB redacted]-walking behind her. TLF was crying and yelled, “He’s got a gun. He’s got a gun.” BARNES heled a shotgun in his right hand pointed to the ground.
Officer Moua pointed his firearm at BARNES and told him to drop his shotgun inside the porch before going outside. BARNES was taken into custody. TLF was shaking and crying hysterically. She said she and BARNES went shopping at Macy’s in Southdale Mall and returned about an hour prior. She does not live at the residence. Both of them were drinking and they got into an argument. She was in the living room and BARNES came out with a black shotgun and placed it on the pool table that was also a dining table.
As she looked for her coat, she called 911. She pushed the shotgun out of the way. BARNES became upset and said, “Don’t touch my gun.” He grabbed the shotgun, racked it, pointed it at her and demanded she get out of the house. TLF also said BARNES said, “I will kill you and your children.” A safety sweep of the home-BARNES’s residence- was done. Officers obtained a search warrant to search the house. A shotgun was found on the front porch, loaded with a 20-gauge shell/live round in the chamber. In the back room of the residence, there was a large gun safe with the door open.
During blueprint questions, TLF said she does believe BARNES will seriously injure or kill her or her children. She said, “Yes, because he brought the gun out.
