On December 18, 2025, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a burglary report at Repair Lair's storage location, a camping repair store, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] East, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The reporting party, owner of the store, stated that multiple portable stoves and a soundbar were stolen from the business's storage location. Surveillance showed that several suspects gained access into the storage building around 2030 hours through a window. One of the suspects pushed the camera over after entering.
On December 21, 2025, Officers learned that a U-Haul truck with stolen Arizona plates on it was involved in the burglary. The U-Haul was located that same day and processed for forensic evidence. Inside the U-Haul was a Wisconsin Driver's License for one of the suspects involved in the burglary who is seen in surveillance. Also inside the U-Haul was the reporting party's YMCA identification. A latent fingerprint was able to be lifted from the U-Haul's passenger side mirror which matched ERIK CHACON PONCE, Defendant herein.
The Defendant's identification matched the surveillance video from the burglary as one of the suspects walking towards the camera before another suspect knocked it over. The U-Haul was located on the same block as the address on the Defendant's driver's license. The Defendant has an active warrant and, therefore, the State requests this complaint issue as a warrant.
