On April 28, 2026, at approximately 8:51 P.M., Metro Transit Officers were dispatched to a threats call at the Brooklyn Center Transit Center, Brooklyn Center, Hennepin County. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with an adult male, hereinafter "Victim 1." He stated he was sitting in the bus and was getting off when a male, later identified as DELTON ALONZO GOODRIDGE, [DOB redacted], hereinafter "Defendant," came up to him and demanded he hand over all of his money. When Victim 1 refused, Defendant then threatened him, saying he has a "pistol" on him and will kill Victim 1. Defendant then grabbed onto Victim 1's walker.
Victim 1 said that at this point, the security guard, hereinafter "Victim 2," stepped in and attempted to diffuse the situation. Officers spoke with Victim 2. Victim 2 stated that he saw Defendant and Victim 1 in a verbal argument outside of the Transit Center. He stated that he told Defendant to get off of Transit property because he was yelling and fighting. Defendant then told Victim 2 that he had a gun and a knife on him, and reached into his inner jacket pocket, insinuating that he had a weapon on him.
Victim 2 had his pepper spray out because he was afraid that Defendant had a gun. After Defendant reached into his jacket pocket, Victim 2 went back into the Transit center and called for police assistance. Victim 2 said that Defendant walked westbound from the Transit Center. Other officers were arriving onto Xerxes Ave traveling northbound from westbound County Road 10 and observed a male matching the description of Defendant walking on the west side of the road. Defendant was given commands to get on the ground.
Defendant continued to not listen to commands, refusing to keep his hands up or get down on the ground. Less lethal rounds were deployed and Defendant ended up on his knees with his hands up where officers took him into custody. Both Victims identified Defendant as the person who threatened them at the Transit Center, and Defendant was noted on surveillance video reaching into his jacket and pulling out a dark colored object holding it in a way that it appears to be a firearm. Defendant was arrested and brought to the Hennepin County Jail where he remains in custody.
