On or about April 2, 2026, law enforcement was conducting routine patrol in the area of Arcadia Ave and Eden Ave, in Edina, Hennepin County, State of Minnesota. While on patrol, officers noticed a car blocking traffic. Officers approached the vehicle and noticed the car engine running. Officers observed the driver, later identified as SHANNON DEE GONZAGOWSKI [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, was slumped over and appeared to be asleep. Officers observed Defendant wake up. She briefly moved her car.
Officers observed Defendant appeared unable to operate her vehicle, even for a short distance. Defendant hit the curb and drove in a halting stop and start manner. Defendant participated in several field sobriety tests. The tests indicated Defendant was likely impaired. Officers arrested Defendant and took her to a police station. At the police station, Defendant began to sob and stated she needed to go the hospital because she had swallowed drugs. Defendant was taken to a hospital for medical treatment.
Pursuant to a search warrant signed by the Honorable Judge Sarah West, law enforcement collected a blood sample from Defendant. Those results are still pending. Defendant was then taken to the Public Safety Facility. During the booking process, a toilet Defendant had just used was discovered to have unconsumed drug contraband. Defendant was convicted of a previous felony DWI in case file 27-CR-20-19798. Defendant remains in custody.
