On February 11, 2026, Carlton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Stracek initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Jaykelah Rose Cuevas [DOB redacted] hereinafter Defendant for failing to stop at a stop sign, cracked windshield, and driving after revocation. Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Stracek noticed that Defendant was displaying signs of controlled substance impairment. Deputy Stracek then administered standardized field sobriety tests with Defendant and noticed several clues of impairment.

Based on his observations and clues observed during the standardized field sobriety tests, Deputy Stracek placed Defendant under arrest for driving while under the influence of a controlled substance. Defendant was searched incident to arrest and a straw was found in her pocket with a substance in it that tested positive for fentanyl. A search warrant was obtained to search Defendant’s vehicle. During the search, 1 gram of fentanyl was located in the glovebox of the vehicle. Defendant was transported to Community Memorial Hospital to provide a blood or urine sample pursuant to a signed search warrant.

While at the hospital Defendant informed Deputy Stracek that she did “hella drugs”. A blood sample was collected from Defendant and was sent to the BCA for further analysis. After the sample was collected, Defendant ran out of the hospital room in an attempt to escape from custody. Deputy Stracek chased Defendant and took Defendant to the ground. While on the ground Defendant was physically resisted Deputy Stracek attempts to place her into handcuffs. While Deputy Stracek secured one cuff on Defendant’s right wrist, she cocked her left leg back and kicked Deputy Stracek’s leg.
