Probable Cause
On February 21, 2026, officers were dispatched to an apartment building in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, based on a report of a domestic assault. The reporting party stated that her boyfriend had rammed her head into the stairs and punched her. Officers arrived and located the reporting party, an adult female identified herein as “Victim.” Victim was outside of the apartment building and stated that she believed her boyfriend had gone back inside of their apartment building to hide. Victim identified her boyfriend as DARRELL TYRONE DAY, JR. [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant.
Victim stated that Defendant slammed her head into the railing in the stairs several times and kneed her in the stomach. He also grabbed her neck with one of his hands, which made it difficult for her to breathe. Officers observed dried blood on Victim’s forehead and that she had a swollen lip. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on her stomach from where Defendant had kneed her. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had difficulty breathing while she was speaking with officers. Victim tried to bring officers up to her apartment, but she was unable to gain access to the apartment using her keycode, and she believed that Defendant had changed the code.
Officers were unable to locate Defendant. Defendant is currently out of custody. Due to the serious nature of this offense, a warrant complaint is requested so that conditions of release can be established.
