On December 26, 2025, officers responded to an assault call that changed to a criminal sexual conduct call at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Call notes stated that the caller’s male friend had refused to leave and had attempted to assault the caller. The male kept taking the caller’s phone, calling it to disconnect twice. The caller informed dispatch that the suspect had left the scene. Officers arrived and identified the caller as an adult female (“Victim”). She reported that Defendant DEIONDRAY ALLEN CRAWFORD, born on [DOB REDACTED], had stayed overnight with her in her bed.
During the night, Defendant reached his hand into Victim’s pants and put his fingers inside Victim’s vagina. In response, Victim [NAME REDACTED] said “no” multiple times. Victim explained that Defendant repeated this same action twice more throughout the night. Each time, Defendant would put his fingers inside Victim’s vagina, she would say “no,” and she would push him away. Each time, Defendant would say, “it’s so I can sleep.” Victim emphasized that “it was not consensual.” The next morning, Victim told Defendant that he needed to leave her residence.
When Defendant would not leave, Victim called 911. When Victim called 911, Defendant would take her phone and hang up. This happened multiple times. Defendant then left the apartment. Victim reported that several weeks earlier, Defendant had stayed overnight at her apartment. While asleep on her bed, Victim awoke to Defendant standing over her on the side of the bed and masturbating with his penis exposed. While officers interviewed Victim, Defendant called her phone to say that it was his bad and that it would not happen again.
He also specifically stated, “I apologize for the things that happened.” An officer then took the phone, identified himself as a police officer, and told Defendant that officers needed to speak with him. Defendant told the officer that he would return, but Defendant never returned in the ensuing hour that officers waited. In a Miranda statement, Defendant described Victim as a good friend. Defendant explained that Victim [NAME REDACTED], "You grabbed me the wrong way” and that he left her residence after asking her if he should leave.
When asked if he remembered using his fingers or penis to penetrate Victim, Defendant sated that the parties were in the same bed sleeping together, meaning that you do things and rub around. Defendant said that he probably took Victim’s phone away from her when she called 911 but does not remember due to his mental health diagnoses. Defendant is in custody.
