On December 1, 2025, officers were dispatched to the Mall of America in Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota for a robbery. Officers met with the victim, who told officers that a person later identified as Shawn Keith Swayzer [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, began demanding victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim [NAME REDACTED] told officers that Defendant grabbed on to him and would not let him go. Victim offered Defendant $20 to let him go, and Defendant refused and demanded $40 from the victim. Victim said he gave Defendant $40 pursuant to his demands before Defendant finally let him go.
Mall of America security was able to pull video of the robbery and track Defendant on video as he left the victim and entered the Mall of America. Mall of America security was able to track Defendant on video until Defendant was met by police officers inside the mall who detained and identified Defendant. Officers also found two $20 bills on Defendant. Officers conducted a show up with the victim, [NAME REDACTED] told officers that he believed that Defendant was the person that robbed him. The officers viewed video of the robbery and of Defendant walking into the mall after the robbery and confirmed that the person on the video who robbed the victim [NAME REDACTED] had in custody and had identified as Defendant.
Defendant is currently in custody.
