On March 26, 2026, Minneapolis Police Officers responded to a damage to property report at New Bethel Church, 1115 30th Avenue North, Minneapolis, Hennepin County. Witness [NAME REDACTED] reported that a male, later identified as EYALA YAMIN WILLIAMS, Defendant herein, damaged the Church's front sign and their air conditioning unit. B. T. Stated that around 2:22 P.M., she had been driving to the front of the church and while approaching, she observed the Defendant destroying the church sign located at the front of the address.
B. T. Approached the Defendant while he was damaging the sign, told him to stop, the Defendant began to yell at B. T., and then stated he was mad at a congregation member who had been sexually harassing him. Witness [NAME REDACTED] reported that the same individual, the Defendant, was damaging an air conditioning unit. Part of the air conditioner had been halfway off of the brick wall and all three fan propellers had been missing parts of them. Security Officer M. M. Showed Officers surveillance video that showed B. T. Observing the Defendant and then the Defendant damaging the air conditioning unit.
The Defendant was identified three days later when he was arrested at the church. The Defendant returned to the church and maced a church member outside the front entrance to the church. He is charged in case file ••-CR-••-••••. The Defendant that the witnesses observed and in surveillance match the Defendant. M. M. Stated that a third prior unreported incident occurred where the Defendant came into church services armed with a knife and church members disarmed and then removed him from the church.
In a post-Miranda statement, the Defendant stated he damaged the air conditioning unit but denied damaging the sign. The Defendant stated a male church member had been sexually harassing him and the church was unwilling to do anything about it, hence the church property destruction and spraying mace at the church member, who was stationed outside the church during services in case the Defendant showed up. The estimate for the exterior air conditioner damages is $4256.66 and the estimate for the sign is $4354.94. The Defendant is currently out of custody.
